Local Navigation
There are three models you can update:
- The BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700
- The BlackBerry® Curve™ 9300
- The BlackBerry® Pearl™ 9105
To update one of these models, your smartphone needs to be running BlackBerry Device Software version 4.5 or later. To find out this information, simply click on ‘options’ followed by ‘about’ and the version your smartphone is running will be displayed near the top of the page.
If your BlackBerry smartphone is provided by your organisation, please touch base with IT before updating.
You will need
- At least 32 MB of flash memory
- 50% battery life in the smartphone
- An Internet connected PC or Mac
- USB cable
- 45 minutes for the update
Instructions
- Connect your smartphone to the computer using the USB connection
- Navigate the computer to www.blackberry.co.uk/update
- Click Check for Updates
- If the Application Loader tool is not installed on your computer:
- In File Download, select the Security Warning dialogue box and click Run
- In Internet Explorer – Security Warning dialogue box click Run
- When prompted, restart computer
- Navigate the computer back to www.blackberry.co.uk/update and click Check for Updates
- In Device Connection dialogue box, type the password for your BlackBerry smartphone. Click OK.
- Complete the on-screen instructions to perform an available BlackBerry Device Software update.
BlackBerry App World
Many of our apps are fully compatible with your BlackBerry 6 update. If, for any reason, you find a particular app unavailable once you have updated your smartphone software, contact the developer for a solution.
