hello, Alcatel-Lucent and RIM Launch the BlackBerry Bold Smartphone in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, Paris, France and Waterloo, On., Canada - hello, Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) and Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM), are pleased to launch the BlackBerry® Bold™ smartphone for customers in Cambodia.

The BlackBerry Bold smartphone supports tri-band HSDPA high-speed networks and comes with integrated GPS and Wi-Fi®, as well as a rich set of multimedia capabilities. Featuring lustrous black exterior, satin chrome finished frame and stylish leatherette backplate, the BlackBerry Bold smartphone is a symbol of accomplishment and aspiration.  Its stunning display, sophisticated user interface and precision keyboard make the BlackBerry Bold a ‘must have’ for power users and successful individuals.

Based on its distribution agreement with RIM, Alcatel-Lucent is leveraging its strong local presence in the region to provide hello with the end-to-end support services for the BlackBerry solution.   • Simultaneous voice and data capabilities allow users to check email or surf the Internet while on a call.
  • Integrated GPS with support for BlackBerry® Maps and other location-based applications.
  • Includes 1 GB onboard storage memory, as well as a microSD/SDHC memory card slot that supports up to 16GB* of additional storage per card, and is conveniently accessible from a side door.
  • Newly enhanced, high performance browser gives users an on-the-go web browsing experience with desktop-style depiction. 
  • Fast download and rendering capabilities, with support for streaming videos (RTSP – real-time streaming protocol).
  • Microsoft® Word, Excel or PowerPoint files can be edited directly on the handset using the preloaded DataViz® Documents to Go® software suite.
  • 2 megapixel camera with video recording capability, built-in flash and digital zoom.
  • Premium phone features including Speaker Independent Voice Recognition (SIVR) for Voice Activated Dialing (VAD), Bluetooth® 2.0, with support for hands-free headsets, stereo headsets, car kits (including car kits that adhere to the Bluetooth Remote SIM Access Profile) and other Bluetooth peripherals.
  • New BlackBerry® Media Sync application provides a simple way to sync digital music collections from iTunes® or Windows Media Player with the smartphone**. Support for High Speed USB 2.0 allows files to be transferred quickly from a computer to the BlackBerry Bold smartphone.
  • BlackBerry® Internet Service support, allows access to up to 10 supported personal and enterprise email accounts (including most popular ISP email accounts).
  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server support, provides advanced security and IT management for enterprise deployments for IBM® Lotus® Domino®, Microsoft® Exchange, and Novell® GroupWise® environments.
