About M-Stack
M-Stack Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Research In Motion (RIM) UK Limited. It has been part of the RIM organisation since 2002. The office is based in the centre of Birmingham, close to the National Indoor Arena (NIA) and the Broad Street area.
M-Stack currently employs about 25 people and is the main UK software development centre for the BlackBerry® smartphone 3GPP protocol stack. Our area of speciality is in 3G, HSDPA and HSUPA wireless technologies. We are part of the larger RIM Cellular Technologies group, which provides support across the whole range of current and future wireless standards (2G, 2.5G, EDGE, evolved EDGE, Wi-Fi®, 3G, HSPA and LTE).
M-Stack is an ISO9001 approved software development centre and uses advanced design tools such as SDL (Specification and Description Language) to produce state of the art solutions for BlackBerry smartphones.

Directions By Car
Follow the signs to the city centre, then pick up signs to the National Indoor Arena (NIA). We are a short distance away from the NIA north car park (public).
We do have spaces in a secure car park, which is accessed from Edward Street through large black gates. Tell security that you are visiting M-Stack and they will direct you. We are on the second floor of Albert House.
Directions By Train
Our office is a 15 minute walk from New Street train station. From the train platform, follow the signs to Victoria Square or Navigation Street. You should come out by a crossing over Navigation Street. Head up the slope of Pinfold Street towards Victoria Square.
In the square, keep the main steps to your right and the Roman Temple (Old Town Hall) to your left. Head into Chamberlain Square and go up the steps into the Paradise Circus Mall (just by McDonalds).
Keep going straight towards the Symphony Hall and Intl. Convention Centre. Just before you get to the main entrance, turn right along the service road. Turn left at the roundabout along Cambridge Street. Keep walking until you go over the canal bridge and about 50m further on Edward Street turn right.
The Quay Place entrance is through the large black security gates. Inform security that you are visiting M-Stack and they should direct you to Albert House, which is part of the complex. We are on the second floor.
