BlackBerry® and Time Out Bring You The Pick Of The Spring Season

The Boat that Rocked

Liberty, the creaky old stalwart of Regent Street, has had its spring awakening. It’s settling into its recent revamp with aplomb (right), and you can expect more than a lick of paint and a couple of new doorknobs.

In store now are a slew of Liberty print projects, from limited-edition Nikes, Kate Moss for Topshop dresses, retro Clothkits craft packs and an upcoming exclusive print by babydoll dress fancier and Turner Prize-winning artist Grayson Perry (www.liberty.co.uk)

Rumours about two major new store openings have been rife since late last year, but this April both Paris-based maverick designer Rick Owens and Marc by Marc Jacobs finally open up shop on Mayfair’s South Audley Street. Expect avant-garde oddities from Owens (www.rickowens.eu), with a typically lofty price tag, but there’s a very zeitgeisty offering from Marc by Marc Jacobs (www.marcjacobs.com), the US designer’s dirt-cheap diffusion line (opens on April 7).

The UK style industry’s renown isn’t its large, luxury fashion houses, but its scorching graduate design talent. Alongside the Future Fashion Now – New Design from the Royal College of Art exhibition at the V&A (from May 22, www.vam.ac.uk ), tickets are now on sale for the one of the major fashion events of the year: the Royal College of Art graduate showon June 10. The 36 MA students, in menswear, womenswear, footwear and accessories, will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of alumni such as Ossie Clark, Philip Treacy and Christopher Bailey, and vogueish newcomers Erdem and Aitor Throup. Buy them online now at www.rca.ac.uk.
